The Allendale Woman’s Club recently presented copies of the 2011 Busy Book to the graduating third graders of Hillside School.  The Allendale Woman’s Club has been compiling and printing a collection of the writing of the third grade class for many years.  Each student is represented in the book, which is professionally printed and bound.  The entries are written as part of the curriculum and include personal stories, articles on famous people, poetry, and story starters such as “What I Am Thankful For,” “My Holiday Traditions,” and “Luck of the Irish.”

The 2011-2012 AWC Board was recently installed.

SHARE – It’s All About Being a Good Neighbor!

The Allendale Woman’s Club has been working with Allendale’s newest neighbors, Orchard Commons, to create a program to assist in the enrichment of the residents’ home life in Allendale.  This new program, SHARE (Special Housing of Allendale Resident Enrichment) began in March as the AWC members facilitated activities with the residents.  These activities include Game Night, Movie Night and a Morning Walking Club.  To kickoff this partnership, the Orchard Commons residents gave tours of their living quarters.  All activities will conclude in June 2011 and recommence in September 2011.

Movie night at Orchard Commons began Friday, March 11th.  Pictured are the AWC members presenting a new microwave to the residents of Orchard Commons to help with popping the popcorn for the big night!  From left, standing are AWC SHARE co-chair Janet Bradley and Orchard Common resident Julie Meyer along with AWC SHARE co-chair Cheryll Vellek and AWC Co-President Kathy Acocella.

GROWING CLUB The ALLENDALE WOMAN’S CLUB is considered the fastest growing Woman’s Club in the state. The club supports many regional and local community organizations, such as the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, the Quest Autism Foundation, the Allendale Ambulance Corps, police and fire departments, the library and the local schools…  (201) WELCOME Magazine, 2009.
