Small world,

I was at services last friday night at this couples house and a woman came over to me and said I knew your sister. How can someone from my synagogue know Linda. Turns out she had a jewelry show/benefit at your club. Linda called her up and said "What can I do for you? How can I promote this event? (not those exact words) She said Linda was a Dynamo! Her name is Caren Shapiro.

Anyway, thought I would share that with all of you.

Thank you Connie,

She was my hero, in this battle she fought and as my older sister who showed such strength and courage. I am so proud of how she lived and how she died.

Not many people can say they had a sister so caring and so sincere. I miss her dearly, but she is forever with me. We will always be three sisters.

To Jay and family:
Linda was a lovely lady and a strong fighter against this deadly disease. Her spirit and will to live left a mark on all of us who knew her. May her memory be eternal.

To all the wonderful women of the Allendale Women's Club,

On behalf of myself, my sister Debra and my mother Edith, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you did for Linda and for the family.

It was great knowing Linda had such a fine group of friends that she loved and who loved her back.

From the scrapbook you put together, we can see how much she enjoyed being part of your group. That makes us feel happy for her.

Thank you for reaching out and all your support in the last few weeks. We look forward to staying in touch.

Although it has been a while since we talked, Linda was never far from my thoughts. We had such wonderful times working together.

Jay and Aaron - my heart goes out to you both.

I am going to miss her dearly.

I think I've been in the Club long enough to qualify as an old-timer, so I've served on A LOT of committees. The now-extinct Family Happenings Committee was a lot of fun. We did a Halloween party at Brighton Gardens for several years, plus Christmas Caroling, and a Harry Potter premier party among other things. However, I'd have to say that so far, Socials has been my favorite committee - planning parties that you HAVE to go to - how bad is that???!!! (Especially now that we get professional help with the cleanup!)

I don't think I have one favorite experience working on a committee. I've thoroughly enjoyed each and every time I've had the opportunity to work with an AWC member including chairing the Holiday Walk, volunteering time at the Antiques Winter Carnival and Allendale Day, participating in the Memorial Day Parade, TWGS, taking pictures of the beautiful models at the Fashion Show, and selling raffles to all the guests who appeared to be having the time of their life. Of course the past two years as co-president, working with a group of fabulously talented women has made me feel so honored to walk in the footsteps of all the women who have served before me. It's a big commitment, but an experience I've truly enjoyed!
